A pressing issue facing many blog writers is: How many words should I write? Is there a minimum requirement or some guidelines to go by? Well, today, that’s what we’re going to discuss.
One thing you must keep in mind when writing an article is this: an article needs to be short enough to keep a person’s attention, yet long enough to cover the subject in it’s entirety. With this in mind, consider the following:
- A lot of bloggers seem to prefer to write less content per article yet post more frequently. This is a great strategy because it allows you to demonstrate a blogging commitment, which gains readers’ respect and often keeps them connected. After about 50 posts, you can expect to notice more back links and higher search engine placement due to your great efforts. In this case, generally speaking, 350 to 500 words per article is ideal.
- Somewhere between the short article posts and the long ones can be a very beneficial practice to use. While short and more frequent posts can keep the reader waiting for the next one, posting articles that are just a bit longer in length and a little less frequently have also been reported to create an increase in reading loyalty. In this case, 550 to 1,000 words is ideal.
- If you plan to write longer articles, be prepared to write quality content, teach the reader something, reduce unnecessary words, and increase readability by bolding, using bullet points, and appropriate headings when necessary. These practices should really be followed in all posts, but especially in longer ones. Link to other related content when possible to help provide some background on the subject you;re writing about, while not only reducing your need to write as much, but also increasing your search engine optimization in the process. Longer posts are usually 1,000 words or more.
